Wedding Card

I made a card for my brother’s wedding at the weekend. It took me ages, but I’m pretty pleased with the result.

I got the idea for the shape from a book on card making that I have, but I embellished it a bit.

It is an origami based design.

This is the first stage. The card is in a square shape and is tied with ribbons. Rubber stamped butterfly wings protrude from the base of the card to the outside. Ribbons are finished with buttons, partly to stop them falling through. On the reverse of the button I glued a small circle of felt.

By gently untying the ribbons and opening up the triangular flaps you get to this stage:

Inside - part 1 (close up)

Finally, by pulling open the final triangular flaps you get to the centre of the card, which has mini bunting made from fabric and paper scraps which I sewed to the ribbon.

Materials used:

  • Art paper (x2) glued together to make double sided
  • Ribbon
  • Buttons
  • Rubber stamps
  • Ink for stamping
  • Glue
  • Thread
  • Fabric/Felt scraps
