Back from holiday!
It’s been a bit quiet around here as I’ve been away walking on The Glyndwr’s Way; a 135 mile National Trail through mid-Wales, from Knighton to Welshpool.
It was lovely… the weather was sunny almost every day, it didn’t rain once, and we had days without seeing a single person. The remoteness was pretty incredible!
When backpacking obviously you have to travel light. But I wanted to take some bits and pieces to be doodling on should the creative urge strike… so here’s what I decided to take:
- A pencil case with some pens, graphite pencils and coloured pencils
- A small watercolour moleskine notebook
- A small journal mainly for writing in
- A plastic case which contained a small knife (for sharpening pencils if necessary), a travel watercolour kit, a bottle of turquoise fluid acrylic, and some bits and bobs like Stickles glitter glue, some tape, an ink stamp and an eraser
- A copy of The Artists’ Way by Julia Cameron, for reading (not shown)
I was wondered what to do about water but then I realised I could just squeeze a bit out of my Camelback water thingy that fits into my rucksack.
In the picture, on the page that is showing, I had no idea what to do so I just smudged a bit of acrylic colour onto the page and then drew over the shapes. It kind of looked like dancers so that’s what I drew.
Kind of reminds me a bit of the illustrations in the Good News Bible…
All the quietness and time to think gave me plenty of time to come with some interesting arty/crafty ideas.
Now the challenge is to implement them now I’m back at work. Hmmm…
